I really like ! They only place a few key words on your page so they barely take any real estate. Most ads appear on the front page of your web site. Two minor hurdles though:
So you need some access to your site’s inner workings: If you installed the software or have FTP access you probably have all the permissions and skills you need. If you don’t have the skill, they have some simple steps for you that make it as easy as possible. Once installed you never need touch it again.
If you’ve got good traffic they’ll hopefully accept your site. But they have rules and a formula so you never know the exact process (Alexa + Google + ???). It gets frustrating since they sometimes reject your ad the step after you had to type a descriptive paragraph.
I have a few pages listed but they jump in and out of being accepted for actual ad placement (they put ads on actual pages, generally the main page, but ads can be on other pages). Once, all of a sudden, a page listed for months with no ads had five appear on it in a matter of days. But on the other hand: while writing this post I just looked at my details and noticed one of my home pages that’s been in there the longest has had no ads since a week into this month (and that one has always had ads).
It’s a set fee for the money, which is why they require semi-popular sites (pages with some kind of ranking), they need to know there is traffic going to the site. But many people think/know that running these kinds of ads negatively affect your page ranking with search engines (such as Google). It’s hard to tell since your sites rise and fall in Google regardless. But I’m not disagreeing I assume they are correct on this.
You get 50% of the selling price, which they calculate based on details of your site. Plus, they sometimes sell ads in “packages” so sometimes you don’t get the full price since they had “a sale”. But I’ve never been disappointed in my check (except when ads don’t sell at all).
I have sent e-mails to them a few times to get tips on better descriptions, suggestions on better pricing or category listings and basically received no useful feedback. This was surprising since if I make more money so do they…
